Twill weave is marked by diagonal ribs or twill lines. If the twill lines are running from the top left to the bottom right corner, it is classified as an S-twill (or left-hand twill); if the twill lines are running from the bottom left to the top right, it is a Z-twill (or right-hand twill). This classification is based on the direction of the middle section of the two letters. Satin weave is the third type of basic weave alongside plain weave and twill weave. Satin weave is easily distinguished as the fabric is double-sided. Satin has a particularly smooth surface. Due to their luxurious shine, satin shirts are often worn as dress shirts. Satin weaves are used alternately with other weaves in order to obtain beautiful matt/lustre effects. \'Accessoires\' is the French word for accessories. They include for example bags, shoes, hats, jewellery, scarves, gloves and belts. Accessories can enhance any outfit. Animal prints mean all types of prints and patterns that imitate the look of animal furs and skins. A well-known example of animal print is leopard print, but zebra prints and tiger patterns are also quite common. Barré refers to transverse stripes created by weaving or printing. At ETERNA, the basic Kent collar is a classic among collar shapes. Its hallmark is its narrow shape - and it’s best combined with classic neckties in a simple knot. The basic Kent collar is suitable for many occasions and is ideal for formal business fashion. This is a type of plain weave. Fabrics in basket weave stand out due to their cool, dry, firm feel. The fabric has a checked pattern created by the weave. A two-tone Chambray fabric is known as bicolour Chambray. \'Black tie\' is a term used for a certain dress code. If an invitation or event announcement specifies a \'black tie\' dress code, it means the occasion is festive. The proper dress is a black or dark blue dinner jacket with a white shirt, white pocket square and a black bow tie. Plain black shoes with a thin leather sole are the proper footwear for this occasion. Ladies wear a floor-length evening gown. Typical black-tie events are visits to the opera, balls and the Academy Awards. Today, blouses are understood to be shirt-style clothing items worn by women. They come in numerous different cuts, collar shapes and sleeve lengths. Blouses can be worn on a broad range of occasions. In business fashion, shirt blouses in muted colours are common. For leisurewear, blouses with a casual cut or in tunic style are very popular. For festive events, feminine styles made of silk and softly flowing fabrics are suitable. Bow ties often replace a tie on very festive occasions. Remember that only specific types of shirts and jackets can be combined with bow ties. Bow ties are the only acceptable tie for dinner jackets and tailcoats. Bow ties are often referred to as a bow or a cross tie. The classic, rather conservative business look consists of a suit with a collared shirt and a necktie for men, and a trouser suit or skirt suit for women. Muted colours are the most appropriate for suits, preferably dark blue, brown and grey. They are ideally combined with single-coloured shirts and blouses. Button-down collars are hallmarked by the two buttons used to fasten the wings of the collar to the shirt. The collar has no stiffeners, and the buttons contribute to a sporty look. Shirts with button-down collars are worn especially in leisure time, often combined with a country look. Cf. Chambray Cambric is a yarn-died, plain-weave cotton fabric. Cambric is also known as \'Chambray\'. This type of fabric is probably named after the linen weaver Jean-Baptiste from Cambrai in France, who, as legend has it, was the first person to produce this type of fabric. The \'frosted effect\' is typical for the smart casual quality of these shirts. Fine white threads are woven into the fabric. For this reason, Chambray is also known as \'faux monochrome\', i.e. apparently monochrome fabric. \'Casual’ means easy-going or relaxed and thus a light, comfortable style. However, this does not mean tracksuit bottoms and sportswear; instead, casual wear refers to comfortable everyday clothing - this includes for example cotton trousers, shirts and loose clothing. The term \'smart casual\' refers to casual wear that can be worn at work as well: dark blue or black jeans, high-quality t-shirts and polo shirts. \'Business casual\' is a fashion style that is a bit more elegant: This includes, for example, a suit that can be worn with an unbuttoned collar and without a tie, or a skirt that you can combine with a smart knit jumper instead of a blouse or blazer. A chalice a typical collar shape for blouses and is shaped like a chalice or funnel; in other words, it opens up wider to the top and thus has a very elegant and feminine look. Chambray is a plain weave fabric that is made using white warp yarns and coloured weft yarns. This gives it a slightly subdued colour. Two-colour chambray is made of coloured (not white) warp yarns with different coloured weft yarns. The colour mixture created looks richer and darker. There are different ways to finish off a sleeve. Combi cuffs are the most versatile of cuffs; this type of cuff can be fastened with two consecutively arranged buttons or with cuff links. The cuff can then be better adjusted to the width of the wearer\'s wrist and thus also fits men with very slim or very broad wrists. Cuff links can be worn in a second button hole between the two fastening buttons. This feature adds a very elegant touch to a classic cuff if needed. Comfort Fit describes ETERNA\'s line of comfortable cuts. It is available for shirts and blouses. This line will be appreciated especially by people who like smart but not restrictive clothes. Other cuts are Modern Fit and Slim Fit. Cotelé is a special construction with three-dimensional ribs running lengthwise. It is tightly woven and has an elegant sheen. Cotton is a popular material for clothing. This natural fibre is derived from the cotton plant. ETERNA sources the cotton for its shirts and blouses from producing regions in Egypt and Georgia, USA. We use extra long staple cotton with a fibre length of at least 35.7 millimetres. The fibre length of cotton, also known as the staple, is among the defining properties for the quality of the material. The higher the staple length, the smoother and more durable the yarn. Only 3% of the worldwide cotton production complies with ETERNA\'s quality standards. The cowl neckline comes in many variations from subtle to bold. In its basic form the cowl neck is round and resembles a waterfall due to its folds. The draped fabric is very ample and is ideally combined with plain cuts. Bow ties are known as cross ties, sometimes also as bows. Bow ties often replace a tie on very festive occasions. Remember that only specific types of shirts and jackets can be combined with bow ties. Bow ties are the only acceptable tie for dinner jackets and tailcoats. A small detail, namely the finish of the sleeve, the cuff, effectively determines whether the shirt has a sporty, classic, elegant or festive look. Cuffs come in different versions, e.g. a sporty cuff, the two-button cuff, the cover cuff and the combi cuff. Cuff links are an accessory used to close a cover cuff and as a piece of jewellery for men at the same time. In ETERNA\'s CUSTOM MADE line, shirts can be completely made to fit the customer\'s individual style and figure. A free choice of fabrics, cuts, sizes and widths, as well as individual embroidery turn a shirt into a highly individualised item of clothing. The individual features of a CUSTOM MADE shirt include a choice of various collar and cuff designs. Far more than 10,000 individual options are available in the CUSTOM MADE program - in this way almost anyone can create a perfectly fitting tailor-made shirt. Denim is a robust cotton twill. Genuine denim is dyed with the indigo dye which, in the case of very dark denim, can stain light pieces of furniture. Through washing and use, denim gradually acquires its characteristic popular lighter used look. A double cuff or French cuff is the most elegant finish for a shirt sleeve. For dinner jackets, a French cuff is \'de rigueur\'. It consists of a double layer of fabric, which is why it is also known as double cuff. It is folded back towards the wrist and can only be fastened with cuff links. A cover sleeve is suitable for festive events in particular, but it can also be worn to work. Double weaves are made of fine yarns which form two fabric layers. These are permanently joined together. This gives the fabric two different sides. One side can be lighter than the other or even have a different design – e.g. one side is checked and other other is plain. The double-button cuff is one of many ways to finish off a sleeve. In this case, two fastening buttons are sewn next to another. Previously, this type of button was also known as tennis cuff, as typically long-sleeved shirts were worn for playing tennis, and the outer cuff button allowed for more freedom of movement during the game. This cuff is particularly suitable for sporty leisure shirts or plain business shirts. Cf. Non-iron ETERNA specialises in non-iron shirts and blouses. Cotton fabrics are treated according to a complex and complicated method, licensed especially for ETERNA, to achieve the best wear and care properties. Non-iron men\'s shirts and women\'s blouses are drip dry; in other words, the fabric straightens by itself after washing and does not need to be ironed. The best results are achieved if you neatly hang up your drip dry shirt on a coat hanger immediately after washing. You can only be sure that you won\'t need to iron your shirt or blouse if fabrics are specifically labelled ‘drip dry’ or ‘non-iron’. Dynamic Cotton is the name of a special fabric used by ETERNA. This delicate Swiss cotton fabric has an elasticity of 15 per cent. . In 2011, shirts and blouses made of pure cotton which is elastic, but without added synthetic fibres such as elastane, were launched for the first time. Dynamic Cotton shirts offer excellent comfort and are non-iron. Any creases in the fabric are smoothed out naturally by body heat. Easy care, loosely translated, means \'easy to clean\'. A shirt labelled as \'easy care\' or \'easy iron\' can be ironed easily and is extremely robust in material and form. An \'easy care\' shirt can withstand even frequent washing and drying. However, you should definitely not use too hot an iron on the double weave collars and cuffs of ETERNA shirts, or they will lose their stability. For easier ironing, you should slightly moisten the remaining parts of your shirt. Silk blouses should be ironed immediately after washing or dried on a coat hanger and then dampened later with an ironing spray or steamed with the iron. Then allow the ironed shirt to dry on a coat hanger and only put it away in the wardrobe when it is entirely dry. Twill fabrics that look like denim but are not dyed with indigo are called fake denim. Fancy stretch refers to a stretch fabric with a fancy weave. The weave of a woven fabric affects what the fabric looks like and what characteristics it has. There are basic weaves, such as plain, twill and satin weave. Fancy weave refers to a fabric that does not have a standard weave. Figurative dobby patterns are cotton fabrics with small, recognisable motifs, such as flowers or squares, which are produced on a dobby loom. The term fil-à-fil, which means "thread by thread", refers to a plain weave fabric with 1/1 alternating light and dark yarns. The fabric is smooth and has a slightly subdued colour. Fil-coupé, also known as lance decoupé or Scherli, refers to fabrics with small motifs, such as dots, which are created by adding extra yarns and then cutting them off. The cut threads are visible on the inside. Fil-coupé refers to a special method for adding patterns and textures to fabrics. Yarns are woven in and then partially cut off, leaving behind eye-catching effects and patterns. This can also be done with stretchy fabrics, and it is then referred to as fil-coupé stretch. Fine twill or twill weaves have diagonal twill lines. If the twill lines run from the left top to the right bottom, the twill is known as an S-twill, if the direction is left bottom to right top, it is known as a Z-twill. Finest Fabric by Swiss Excellent is high-quality, non-iron cotton made in Switzerland specifically for ETERNA. The label guarantees that at least 34 per cent of the value added chain during the production of the fabric takes place in Switzerland. Flannel fabrics are woven cotton fabrics that are put through a finishing step which raises the fabric on one or both sides. This results in a nice soft feel, and flannel is also warm, light and supple. This necktie knot is a standard knot, also known as a single knot. This knot is suitable for all neckties, collared shirts and styles. A French cuff is the most elegant finish for a shirt sleeve. For dinner jackets, a French cuff is \'de rigueur\'. It consists of a double layer of fabric, which is why it is also known as a double cuff. It is folded back towards the wrist and can only be fastened with cuff links. A cover sleeve is suitable for festive events in particular, but it can also be worn to work. Glen check refers to a large-scale plaid pattern. This type of pattern is used mostly for suits and shirts. But ties may also sport a glen check pattern. Sometimes, a fabric with this pattern is also referred to as glen check. ETERNA takes its responsibility seriously when it comes to environmental protection, sustainability and fair working conditions, making it a pioneer in the fashion industry. ETERNA was the first fashion manufacturer worldwide to be certified under the highest Oeko-Tex Standard back in 2000. ETERNA also focuses on uncompromising transparency with its own seal: GOOD SHIRT is the seal developed exclusively for ETERNA. The most important statements are summarised in the seal: \'made in Europe\' and \'we care for people & nature\'. The seal combines the following four promises of ETERNA: We protect people and nature. We treat our environment and resources responsibly. We offer perspectives and sustainability. We offer masterly quality and workmanship. The GOOD SHIRT label is attached directly to the product, among other things as a sewn-in label. The half-Windsor knot is often also referred to (incorrectly) as single Windsor knot. It is a broad, triangular knot and is therefore suitable for shirt collars with widely spaced points. It is named after the Prince of Wales, later the Duke of Windsor, who took a liking to big knots in the 1930s. Fil-coupé refers to a special method for adding patterns and textures to fabrics. Yarns are woven in and then partially cut off, leaving behind eye-catching effects and patterns. This can also be done with stretchy fabrics, and it is then referred to as fil-coupé stretch. Houndstooth is the name of a plain woven fabric with small two-colour checks. It is often used interchangeably with Pepita. The term \'indoor fashion\' refers to clothing items that are worn only at home. They are mainly characterised by the fact that they are easy to wear. Indoor fashion can combine a certain sporty look with an attractive and decent appearance. Jackets are an important part of men’s outerwear in the Western world; they are also known as sports jackets. Jackets are buttoned up at the front and have a collar which lies down flat (lapels), somewhat similar to shirts. Jackets come in many variants, for example with a single or double row of buttons and either a central single vent or two side vents. Combined with a shirt and tie, a jacket can be worn either at the office or on formal occasions. It is also suitable for leisurewear, if worn with casual chinos or jeans in combination with a polo shirt or a t-shirt. Jacquard is the collective term for fabrics, usually with large, complex woven designs, and refers to the pattern-forming production technique. The term Jacquard comes from the French inventor J.M. Jacquard (1752-1834), who invented a control system for looms which used perforated cards to lift and lower the individual warp yarns as required. This woven fabric has good dimensional stability, is functional and versatile. Jacquard is the collective term for patterned fabric production techniques. It can be used to create large fancy motifs, i.e. with a large repeat. This type of patterning can also be used to produce knitted fabrics like knitted jersey. Jeans are trousers made of denim, a sturdy cotton fabric. Jeans are totally indispensable in contemporary fashion and are continuously reinvented. They are available in a broad range of cuts, washes and colours. They are worn mainly in leisure time and can be spiced up with many different combinations. In dark colours, discreetly tailored, and combined with a shirt or sports jacket, or a blouse and a blazer, jeans can be worn also for occasions with a smart casual dress code. Jersey is a collective noun for elastic fabrics of various qualities. Jersey can be knitted or woven, made of yarn viscose, wool, cotton, silk or mixtures. Jersey is a lightweight, ribbed fabric. The Kent collar is a very classic collar shape. It is one of the best-selling shirt collars and is suitable for most professional and festive occasions. Compared to other collar forms, the tips of the Kent collar are of average length. They are relatively widespread and are therefore particularly flattering for narrow faces. Knitting refers to the production of a garment by means of threads or yarns and two or more needles. A large variety of knitting patterns exist, e.g. the cable pattern. Compared to woven fabrics, knits are heavier and more transparent. A lapel collar is a typical collar style for blouses and resembles the lapels of a blazer or a coat, i.e. the front edge of a top folded back. Blouses with a lapel collar make for a more elegant look than conventional shirt blouse collars. Since blouses with a lapel collar by definition have a deep neckline, lapel collars appear to lengthen the upper body. Layering is a dress style where the different layers of clothing are worn on top of each other. It is also known as onion style. This style is best achieved by combining different fabric qualities, different silhouettes and lengths. For example, an airy, loose-fitting tunic can be worn over tight trousers, with a cardigan in a coarse yarn over it. Blouses in a flowing fabric are especially good for achieving a layered look. Linen refers to the natural fibre, the raw material, and the fabric made from it. Linen fabric is lint-free, strong, durable and has low susceptibility to dirt. Linen can absorb a lot of moisture and release it into the air, giving the fabric a cooling effect which means that it is often used for summer clothing. However, linen fibres have low elasticity and are therefore susceptible to creasing. Cf. Oeko-Tex standard ETERNA products carry the \'Made in Green by Oeko-Tex\' label. Since 2015, this label has replaced Oeko-Tex standard 100. The Oeko-Tex standard is an independent testing and certification system for textile products. In 2000, ETERNA became the first clothing company worldwide to be certified with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 plus label, signalling that the products are tested against pollutants and manufactured in an environmentally-friendly manner complying with strict social standards. The label marks products at all stages of the textile chain that were produced from pollutant-tested materials by means of environmentally-friendly processes under secure and socially responsible conditions of work. In addition, any consumer can transparently trace an item marked certified with the \'Made in Green\' label at any time by means of a unique product or a QR code. This type of fabric goes back to the early men\'s shirts in England around 1910. ETERNA has revived this classic style of dress shirt with its textured surface and visible dimples. The fabric has a rich, grainy feel. The word melange comes from French and means mixture. Here, light, dark or differently coloured fibres are blended during the spinning process to produce a multicoloured yarn. The best known is the elegant blend of grey and white. This segment includes all outerwear for men and boys. Initially, the term only referred to men\'s suits and boys\' suits. The name mille-rayé comes from French and means \"a thousand stripes\". The fabric has fine, tightly woven stripes running longitudinally. The French term \'millefleurs\' means \'thousand flours\'. It is an all-over pattern with densely scattered flowers, also known as a folkdance pattern. This type of pattern looks especially good on blouses and dresses. This fabric is produced in twill weave. The term \'millerayé\' is derived from French, meaning \'thousand stripes\'. The fabric features distinct, very fine and tightly woven stripes arranged longitudinally. Mock leno fabrics have an airy, lattice-like structure. The term originates from imitations of high-quality leno fabrics, which are produced on special machines and are mainly used for home textiles. The fabric is air-permeable and has a cooling effect. Modern Fit is the modern, slim-fitting cut of ETERNA. This cut aims at customers who want to interpret the classic look in a more fashionable way. This detailed cut is available for ladies\' blouses as well men\'s shirts. It can lend a more modern, subtle touch to classic, sombre outfits. Other cuts are Comfort Fit and Slim Fit. The term "natté" comes from French and means braided. The checked appearance is created by the weave. This very three-dimensional fabric has large holes and is therefore very air permeable. Unlike conventional stretch fabrics, natural stretch fabrics are made of 100% cotton. The stretch effect, which can otherwise only be achieved by incorporating an elastane yarn, is achieved by using a special weaving method and finish. Shirts made from natural stretch fabric stand out due to their excellent wear comfort, as the positive wear properties of the cotton are accompanied by a high level of flexibility of movement. A necktie is an elongated piece of cloth, which is tied around the neck with a tie knot. In combination with a shirt, ties are generally worn for formal events, in professional life and on festive occasions. The tie evolved from the tied bow, the so-called bow tie, by continuously cutting them with longer ends, until today\'s tie was conceived. The tie is worn as a rule under the shirt collar, and there are different ways of tying them. The tie covers the button placket on the shirt front. The tie can be fixed to the shirt with a tie pin. There are various ways of tying neckties that are suitable for various types of ties and collar. The standard knot is known as the four-in-hand. Other options include the half-Windsor knot and the Windsor knot as well as the Pratt knot. Cf. drip dry ETERNA specialises in non-iron shirts and blouses. Cotton fabrics are treated according to a complex and complicated method, licensed especially for ETERNA, to achieve the best wear and care properties. Non-iron men\'s shirts and women\'s blouses are drip dry; in other words, the fabric straightens automatically after washing and does not need to be ironed. The best results are achieved if you neatly hang up your drip dry shirt on a coat hanger immediately after washing. You can only be sure that you won\'t need to iron your shirt or blouse if fabrics are specifically labelled ‘drip dry’ or ‘non-iron’. Cf. Made in Green by Oeko-Tex The Oeko-Tex standard is an independent testing and certification system for textile products. In 2000, ETERNA became the first clothing company worldwide to be certified with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 plus label, signalling that the products are tested against pollutants and manufactured in an environmentally-friendly manner complying with strict social standards. In 2015, the Oeko-Tex standard 100 plus was replaced by the \'Made in Green by Oeko-Tex\' label. As before, the label marks products at all stages of the textile chain that were produced from pollutant-tested materials by means of environmentally-friendly processes under secure and socially responsible working conditions. In addition, any consumer can transparently trace an item marked certified with the \'Made in Green\' label at any time by means of a unique product or a QR code. The term \'oversized\' refers to clothing items deliberately designed to appear as too large, i.e. very loosely cut garments. Oversized tops have a particularly casual look and can be combined very well with tight-fitting pants and skirts. Oversized blouses are very versatile and are suitable for any occasion. Oxford is the name of a strong colour-woven cotton fabric in a basket weave, which is a variation of plain weave. As the name suggests, this type of fabric comes from the British university town of the same name. Oxford is ideal for sporty shirts and is often used in conjunction with button-down collars. Its trademark feature is the large appearance of the weave which always uses double yarns. Oxford fabric is hard-wearing and soft, as well as being especially breathable. Paisley patterns are abstract, decorative patterns. The basic form of this pattern is a flourishing drop-shaped design, or a design similar to a leaf, with a pointed, curved tip. Paisley patterns are used for shirts, but also accessories such as scarves, ties and pocket squares. Pepita is the name of two-colour patterns in a twill weave. Different colours are woven together to form blocks squares with diagonal connections. Pepita is often used interchangeably with houndstooth. Peter Pan collars are a typical collar shape for blouses. The Peter Pan collar, named after its appearance in an early Peter Pan film, is a flat collar. Round-shaped collar wings are a typical feature. In addition, the Peter Pan collar is often white as a contrast for colourful blouses. This form of collar is too playful to be suitable for business fashion. Pin stripes is a classic pattern. Warp threads of different colours ware worked into a basic fabric where they appear as needle-fine longitudinal stripes. Predominantly light-coloured warp threads are used in a dark basic fabric, usually of a dark grey or dark blue colour. Pin stripe suits are particularly elegant. Nowadays, the pattern can also be found, for example, on shirts or neckties. Pinpoint is the name of a type of Oxford fabric which is a mixture of plain and basket weave made using fine yarns. The refined fabric structure looks plain coloured due to the small dot pattern. Pinpoint fabric is sturdy and durable, with a firm feel. Piqué is a type of fabric and is also the name for both woven and knitted fabric constructions. The fabric is named after the construction. Knitted piqué is used for polo shirts. The surface has a textured, dimpled structure which is air-permeable and elastic. Plain-weave houndstooth check is a small check pattern. Often, no clear distinction is made between plain-weave houndstooth and similar patterns, such as pepita and Vichy houndstooth check. In technical terms, plain-weave houndstooth check refers to a mostly two-tone pattern slightly resembling the shape of a windmill. The pattern is distinguished by rectangular extensions, as opposed to pepita and Vichy houndstooth check, where the extensions are diagonal. Plastron is one of the many predecessors of today\'s necktie and was first developed around 1860 from several overlaying tie knots. This scarf-like tie was - and still is - worn with a cutaway or frock coat. Nowadays the Plastron is almost exclusively used in equestrian sports. It is also worn by bridegrooms as part of traditional, elegant dress. A polo shirt is a slip-on shirt with a short row of buttons. Polo shirts are available in many different variations, colours and materials. They can be worn for all sporting events, but can also substitute for a shirt, if the dress code is not too formal. Poplin is the name of shirt fabrics with a plain weave. This weave is the simplest and oldest of the three basic weaves. Each yarn is firmly interlaced, making poplin hard-wearing, durable and at the same time smooth and supple. This tie knot was named after the member of the US Chamber of Commerce, Jerry Pratt. It is also referred to as the Shelby knot, because TV presenter Donald Shelby often wore a similarly knotted tie in his shows. Rib weave is derived from plain weave and is characterised by its typical longitudinal or transverse ribs. Fabrics with a rib weave are particularly abrasion- and tear-resistant, with a grainy feel. Seersucker has a textured surface with a deliberate wrinkled or ruffled effect. This look is achieved by using a particular weave or finish. Seersucker is especially suitable for summer clothing, as it does not lie flat on the body due to its relief-like surface, thus keeping the heat away and allowing air to circulate. The semi-stiff collar is the clothing item that gave the established fashion company ETERNA its name. The founders of the company, the Hönigsberg brothers, named their invention - a semi-stiff collar made of patented double-weave - ETERNA, which then became their brand name. Thus, they created a novelty: For the first time, collars no longer had to be buttoned on to shirts. The shark collar typically features wide-angled collar tips. This collar position is also suitable for neckties with a broad tie knot. This collar is always correct, both with and without a tie. A shark collar is particularly suitable for all modern sleek suit silhouettes. The shirt is a piece of clothing with neck and arm openings, which is available in different lengths and with different sleeves, neck and collar shapes. Shirts are worn by both men and women. Properly combined, a shirt looks very fashionable and casually elegant on women. Silk is a very fine, natural textile fibre which originates from China. It is made from the cocoons of silkworms, the larva of the silk moth. As silk consists mainly of protein, it has the best skin compatibility properties of all textile fibres. Owing to its particularly fine, smooth fibre texture, silk is very smooth and soft. Typical fabrics produced in further silk processing are chiffon, satin and taffeta. Silk is hallmarked by its sheen and strength. In addition, silk fabrics also absorb colour very well. Silk has excellent insulating properties and is warm in winter and cool in summer. Silk fabrics are very sensitive to water and must therefore be washed carefully by hand. These are knitted fabrics, and they can be either warp or weft knitted. One side of the fabric has knit stitches, giving it a ribbed appearance. The other side of the fabric has purl stitches, resulting in a smooth, closed surface. Single jersey is stretchy, soft and thin. ETERNA men\'s shirts are available with long and short sleeves; ETERNA women\'s blouses are available with long sleeves, medium sleeves, short sleeves and sleeveless, so you can order your favourite blouse any time online, regardless of temperature or season. In our ETERNA shop, long sleeve blouses are listed in the \'1/1 sleeve\' category and short sleeve blouses in the \'1/2 sleeve\' category. Blouses classified as \'3/4 sleeves\' are women\'s blouses with sleeves that end just under the elbow. Sleeveless women\'s blouses are listed in the \'sleeveless\' category. Slim Fit is the figure-hugging slim fit cut of the latest ETERNA line of shirts. Due to the slim fit, these very fashionable shirts particularly appeal to young, trendy customers. Slim Fit shirts and blouses are a tasteful and subtle indication of fashion awareness on the part of their wearers. Other cuts are Comfort Fit and Modern Fit. The term \'smart casual\' refers to casual wear that can be worn at work as well: dark blue or black jeans, high-quality t-shirts and polo shirts. There are different ways to finish off a sleeve. The classic single-layered sports cuff features one button to close the cuff. It is the most widespread form of cuff. Often two closing buttons are arranged next to each other to adjust the cuff to the width of the arm wrist. The sports jacket is an important part of men’s outerwear in the Western world. Jackets are buttoned up at the front and have a collar which lies down flat (lapels), somewhat similar to shirts. Jackets come in many variants, for example with a single or double row of buttons and either a central single vent or two side vents. Combined with a shirt and tie, the sports jacket can be worn either at the office or on formal occasions. It is also suitable for leisurewear, if worn with casual chinos or jeans in combination with a polo shirt or a t-shirt. Shirts made of the textile combination stretch and non-iron are comfortably stretchy and non-iron at the same time. Shirts with this finish therefore combine excellent wearability and easy care. Stretch fabric is a collective term for fabrics that are made stretchy by incorporating elastic fibres or by means of a special finish. In our cotton/elastane fabrics, the elasticity is achieved by using cotton yarns containing synthetic elastic fibres. The higher the elastane content in the fabric, the more stretchy the fabric and the more attractively it lies on the body. It ensures excellent wear comfort as well as dimensional stability, durability and ease of care. Men\'s shirts should have a classy look and be comfortable; therefore, many ETERNA shirts are made of Swiss Cotton, a high-quality, non-iron cotton fabric from Switzerland. This fabric produced exclusively for ETERNA is of exquisite quality and offers optimal wearing comfort. The quality label \'Swiss Cotton\' is synonymous with carefully selected extra long cotton fibres and high-quality workmanship, made in Switzerland. Only about 3 per cent of all cotton produced worldwide meets the strict quality standards of Swiss Cotton. Men\'s shirts made of Swiss Cotton are a delight to wear and impress with their long life. A t-shirt is a short-sleeved casual top, usually made of jersey material with a round neck. Nowadays, t-shirts come with a broad range of different necklines and sleeves. For example, they can have long sleeves as well as short sleeves. T-shirts can be worn at numerous occasions in leisure time and can be combined with anything. A firm fabric tab, in conjunction with small press studs, keeps the two collar wings tightly in place, creating the typical narrow spread of the collar. The tab collar is a favourite among classic collar shapes and is suitable for all formal occasions. However, the tab collar must always be worn with a tie. The tailcoat is the most elegant and formal type of evening wear. A tailcoat is a waist-length jacket that tapers with one or two tapering tails at the back. Tailcoats are combined with a white bow tie. Proper tailored shirts are custom-fitted by hand or the measurements are recorded in a computer by means of a 3D laser scan. With ETERNA\'s CUSTOM MADE program, shirts can be fitted exactly to the style and figure of the customer very easily using the home computer. A free choice of fabrics, cuts, sizes and widths, as well as individual embroidery turn a shirt into a highly individualised item of clothing. The individual features of a CUSTOM MADE shirt include a choice of various collar and cuff designs. Far more than 10,000 individual options are available in the CUSTOM MADE program. Tencel™ is made of cellulosic fibres with botanical origin. Tencel is characterised by its smooth touch and enhanced breathability. The material is also known as lyocell. Textured weaves are often used with stripes to make them stand out visually and texturally. Here, a smooth plain weave alternates with a more voluminous weave. Textured weaves are often used with stripes to make them stand out visually and texturally. Here, a smooth plain weave alternates with a more voluminous weave. Blouses with a tie-neck collar feature a collar extended by a tapering length of fabric. This length of fabric can be either tied up neatly into a bow or casually looped. A tie-waist blouse typically has sash-shaped tailored elements that are crossed over each other, wrapped around the waist and securely tied. This look can also be achieved by front and back elements that are crossed over and buttoned up. Nowadays, a tunic is understood to be a loose-fitting blouse, often without a collar. Tunic-style blouses mostly have a longer cut and side slits. Initially, a tunic was a garment worn by men and women from Roman antiquity up to the Middle Ages. Turn-down collar is a generic term for all kinds of typical collars, such as the shark collar or the Kent collar. Straight, pointed collar tips are typical of the broad turn-down collar. They can be used without restriction with all business shirts. Twill weave is one of the three basic weaves. A characteristic feature is the visible diagonals on the fabric, the twill line. Depending on the weave construction, this can sometimes be clearly and strongly accentuated or only slightly visible. This means that twill materials can range from a smooth, soft feel to a more voluminous handle, right though to a stiff handle. A twinset is a two-piece consisting of a sweater and cardigan made from the same yarn in the same colour. A twinset generally looks very feminine and elegant, and is at the same time sporty and casual. Two ply is a type of weave where the weft yarns as well as the warp yarns (cross and longitudinal yarns) are twisted before weaving. This production method, which was originally used for the standardised production of men\'s shirts, requires extensive additional effort. Therefore, two-ply quality is nowadays only used for top quality shirts. Moreover, the twisted yarns make for improved automatic straightening of the fabric, which means that two-ply products are very easy to care for. In addition to the crease-resistant fabric, the high-twist cotton yarns are exquisite to the touch and offer especially comfortable wear. The term \'used look\' refers to all visual effects aimed at making leisure clothing look as if had already been worn before it was purchased. Certain types of washes or chemicals produce a used look on fabrics. Jeans in particular are often sold with a used look. The used look is only worn in leisure time. It must also be used carefully and not excessively to avoid an unkempt appearance. Vichy check is a fabric pattern for shirts and blouses consisting of stripes of equal width that cross over to form checks. The intersections are in a darker colour than the stripes. The stripes are usually offset against a light-coloured background. Mostly it\'s blue or red on a white background. Vichy houndstooth check is a pattern produced in twill weave with diagonal extensions - as opposed to the rectangular extensions in plain-weave houndstooth check. Vichy houndstooth check must not be confused with Vichy check. Clothing from the 1920s to 1990s is referred to as vintage. However, even new clothes that show particularly typical features of a previous epoch have a vintage touch and are therefore referred to as such. Such features are characteristic patterns, colours, cuts and fabrics that were fashionable in the past. The term warp figured fabric refers to a woven fabric with a motif, such as small dots or squares, placed at intervals on the right side of the fabric in the longitudinal direction (warp direction). On the wrong side of the fabric are short, floating yarns. The term weft figured fabric refers to a woven fabric with a motif, such as small dots or squares, placed at intervals on the right side of the fabric in the transverse direction (weft direction). On the wrong side of the fabric are short, floating yarns. This term denotes two different knot forms: the Windsor knot, also known as the double Windsor knot, and the half-Windsor knot or simple Windsor knot. They differ in the way the knot is tied and the size of the knot. The wing collar is very formal and is reserved for special events such as weddings and gala events. With its extremely short collar tips, the wing collar looks very elegant. This elegant collar is now used almost exclusively for shirts that are worn with dinner jackets or tailcoats. Wing collars are worn with bow ties, not with neckties. DOB is a German acronym for women\'s outerwear. This means clothing items that women commonly wear which are publicly visible in everyday life and which are not considered to be underwear, hence shirts and blouses.
